Courage and Faith

34But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep sheep for his father. And when there came a lion, or a bear, and took a lamb from the flock, 35I went after him and struck him and delivered it out of his mouth. And if he arose against me, I caught him by his beard and struck him and killed him. 36Your servant has struck down both lions and bears, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them, for he has defied the armies of the living God.” 37And David said, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you!” (1 Samuel 17:34-37).

   1. Used to (v.34)

Writing Using the Grammar

1. 예수의 피가 내 죄를 씻어 줄 때까지 나는 죄인었다.

   1. I used to be a sinner until the blood of Jesus washed me.

2. 나는 공공연히 하나님을 무시하고 예수님을 부인했었다.

   1. I used to defy God and deny Jesus.

3. 내가 완전히 무너졌을 때, 하나님은 내 손을 붙잡아 주셨다.

   1. When I was totally wretched, God caught (=held) me by my (=the) hand. 

4. 만약 하나님이 나를 죄로부터 구해 주시지 않았더라면, 나는 여전히 세상과 육신의 욕망을 뒤쫓고 있었을 것이다.

   1. If God didn't deliver me from sin, I would be going after the desires of the world and the flesh.

   1. When I go after Jesus Christ, though the world will defy me as Goliath (did king David), Jesus, who saved me from sin, will deliver me from evil.

10. 내가 아무리 험난한 길을 갈지라도 주님께서 나와 함께 하시기에 나는 끝까지 이겨낼 수 있다.

    1. Though I walk the narrow way, because the Lord is with me, I can endure to the end.
